Background Research Report

DIRECTIONS: Every Science Fair project that goes to County or receives an A+ must include background information on your subject.  To begin researching your science fair project, you need to get some information from outside sources.  Remember that your experiment should have at least three sources of reference material, which will be included in your bibliography.  The first source must be an encyclopedia.  The second and third can be websites or other books.

FIRST: For each source, copy down its bibliography information, then find a few facts from that source about your subject.  You can find out what kind of bibliography information you need from your SCAB book.

SECOND: Once youÕve gathered all your facts, use the outline below to write your one page background report.  REMEMBER THAT YOUR REPORT MUST INLCUDE A BIBLIOGRAPHY WITH AT LEAST THREE SOURCES!!!

Suggested Background Report Outline:

Paragraph One: Define all the key words or subjects that are a part of your science fair project.  These are the terms that most people wonÕt know.

Paragraph Two: Use this paragraph to give examples of interesting facts or history about your topics.

Paragraph Three: Explain how the information in paragraphs one and two will help you to better understand your experiment and your results.
