The SCVA Junior High Honor Choir consists of 102 advanced singers from all over Southern California and will be conducted by Dr. Christopher Peterson, Associate Professor of Music at California State University, Fullerton. Dr. Peterson directs the Men's Chorus and teaches classes in choral music education. The concert will be on Saturday, May 1st at 7pm at Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra (please note new location!) and will feature works by J.S. Bach, G. F. Handel, D. Childs, R. Dilworth, and other works. We are so proud of our JAMS musicians!

QOTW # 1 - WEEK OF FEB. 8TH (IN CLASS) - A piece of music may appeal to one person but may not appeal to another. What factors do you think influence a person's thoughts or feelings about a certain piece or style of music?

QOTW # 2 - Periods 1, 3, and 5 only: 1) Describe what a singer must do to succeed when he/she is singing a solo and

2) What 3 things must an audience member do to help each soloist be successful?

QOTW # 3 - Periods 1, 3, and 5 only: Describe how you will prepare for Campus Image photos. What will you wear, what will you bring?

Practice and memorize your solos!

All singers remember... practice the following skills daily-

Practice all major scales, major and minor triads, and chromatic scale using the Curwen Hand Signals (Solfege).

Practice sight-singing sheets and sight-reading your music.

Practice counting and clapping your part in each song as well as the rhythm sheets handed out in class.

Keep singing!

Wednesday, March 17th - Meet in Room 27 no later than 6:30pm with concert outfit on. We sing sometime between 6:30 and 7:15pm.

No rehearsals during Weeks of 3/15 and 3/22 due to Stairway preparations! Rehearsals will resume on Tuesday, April 13th

SCVA Festival is on Friday, April 23rd at 10:00am in the JAMS Auditorium

(Bring music and pencil and a focused attitude!)
