Key Algebra Concepts

Learning is an individual endeavor. Some ideas come easily; others take time--sometimes lots of time--to grasp. In addition, individual students learn the same idea in different ways and at different rates. Some students will need extra practice; others may not. However, all students will be successful this year, and they will be expected to master the following foundational Algebra topics:

1. Operations with numbers  16. Zero Product Property and quadratics
2. Combining like terms 17. The quadratic formula
3. Order of operations 18. Solving inequalities
4. Distributive Property 19. Absolute value equations
5. Substitution and evaluation 20. Absolute value inequalities
6. Tables, equations, and graphs 21. Simplifying rational expressions
7. Solving linear equations 22. Multiply/divide rational expressions
8. Writing equations 23. Solving equations containing fractions
9. Solving proportions 24. Completing the square
10. Proportional reasoning: ratios 25. Laws of exponents
11. Intersection of lines: sub method 26. Add/subtract rational expressions
12. Multiplying Polynomials 27. Solving mixed equations
13. Writing and graphing linear equations 28. Pythagorean Theorem
14. Factoring polynomials 29. Simplifying square roots
15. Intersections of lines: elimination method
